THIS refers to the news report `Qaim wants Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to inquireinto policeirregularities before the National Accountability Bureau does` so (March 12).
After the Supreme Court initiated suo motu proceedings against police department irregularities, appointments, fund distribution, and performance of personnel and directed the NAB to complete the investigation, the chief minister ordered a probe by the provincial Anti-Corruption Establishment.

His attempt to have a probe by the ACE, a politicised department, is meant to shield some of the officials involved, as well as certain lawmakers who have let loose a reign of horrendous crime and corruption in thepast eight years of the PPP rule.
The NAB should carry out an independent investigation without being influenced by the ACE findings aimed at covering up wrongdoings.
