Addict strangles minor daughter over drug money

TOBA TEK SINGH: A drug addict allegedly strangled his five-yearold daughter in Jaranwala tehsil, Chak 240 GB, after his wife refused to give him money to buy narcotics.
The wife of suspect Zakir Hussain told police that the suspeet, in a fit of anger, grabbed his daughter Aliya Bibi and strangled her. Jaranwala City police have arrested the suspect.
OFFLOADED: Two youths were offloaded from an AzerbaijanboundflightatFaisalabad airport on Sunday by FIA immigration officials after their educational certificates were found to be fake.
An FIA official said that Umair Yousaf had obtained a visa by producing a fake matriculation certificate through agent Muhammad Altaf who was paid Rs400,000.
The foreign ministry stamps on his documents were also found to be forged.
Similarly, Usman had paid Rs900,000 to Muhammad Ahsan by submitting fake matricu-lation and FSc certificates to secure an MBBS study visa.
Both were handed over to the FIA`s anti-human trafficking cell for further legal action.
RAID: Acting on intelligence reports, the Gojra assistant commissioner raided two godowns on Samundri Road on Sunday and recovered 1,086 hoarded sugar bags from trader Ameer Hamza`s warehouse and another 500 sugar bags from the godown of trader Muhammad Shakil. Both godowns were sealed.
SAHULAT BAZAAR: Punjab Sahulat Bazars Authority Chairperson MNA Malik Muhammad Afzal Khokhar visited Sahulat stalls in Model Bazaar on Sunday.
He inspected the sale of sugar and flour at subsidised rates, interacted with customers regarding availability and staff behaviour, and reviewed cleanliness, complaint cell operations, and the senior citizens` camp.
He also examined the home delivery system and took customer feedback. He told reporters that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharifprioritised providing relief to the people during Ramazan.
FIRE: Computers, furniture and solar-powered batteries were burnt in a fire that broke out at the MCB Bank branch on Samundri Road, Roshan Wala Bypass.
According to a Rescue 1122 report, the fire was caused by a short circuit and was extinguished before it could cause further damage to the bank`s records and building.
ACCIDENT: A car crashed into a roadside tree on the west bank of Canal Road near Raza Garden on Saturday night, killing the driver and critically injuring anotherpassenger.
Rescue 1122 officials said the accident was caused by speeding. The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Asad Imran, while 22-year-old Faizan Umer was shifted to Allied Hospital. Both were residents of Chak 203 RB Malkanwala.
Meanwhile, in Jhang, near Adda Khewa on Chiniot Road, a young man, Muhammad Yaqub of Nankana Sahib, fell from a moving truck and was crushed under its tyre, dying on the spot.
