HYDERABAD: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that he fails to understand Muttahida Qaumi Movement`s politics and made it clear Karachi`s share of water is being supplied to the metropolis.
He told journalists at an Iftar party at his residence on Sunday that Jaffar Express attack was condemnable and termed it an attempt to halt Pakistan`s journey to progress. Indian intelligence agency, RAW, was trying to weaken Pakistan through its local assets, he said.
He said thatBalochistan`s issue needed to be addressed. He failed to understand politics of Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Karachi`s share of water was being supplied to the metropolis, he said.
He said that President Asif Zardari had clearly said that he could not support six canals being built on Indus River. The entire Sindh government was clear in its stance over canals issue, he said.
`Not a single drop of Sindh`s water can be taken away,` he said and added that Sindh government would not allow construction of these canals.
Leaving the government was not a big price [if it came to that] as SindhAssembly had already passed a resolution in this regard, he said.
He said that government was working on Hub project as well for addressing Karachi`s water problem. The provincial government was paying attention to Karachi and it was not PPP which had got ministries in federal government, he said in a veiled criticism of MQM.
He said that social media was feeding wrong information about Cholistan Canal. The Cholistan should be irrigated through cloud seeding for artificial rain, which had now become a practice around the globe, he said.
He said that development works were being executed across the province. The era of`strikes` had ended and nobody was extorting protection money these days [in Sindh`s urban area], he said.
He said that all charged parking in the province is illegal and local government department has been asked to eliminate it.
Alluding to MQM, Memon said that one party had escaped from local government elections and people knew why it did not participate in the LG polls.
He said that Maulana Fazlur Rahman was an asset of politics in the country. How could PMLF, which had staged rallies for Kalabagh Dam during Musharraf`s era, together with GDA was criticising canals project today, he said, adding both were rejected in elections.
