Robbers take away `over Rs0.7m` from toll plaza

DERA GHAZI KHAN: In a brazen daylight robbery on Sunday, armed men made off with over Rs700,000 collected by the staff at the Rujhan Toll Plaza, sources says.

As per sources, armed robbers stormed the toll plaza and took away the cash after taking the staff hostage at gunpoint.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers escaped in a vehicle, heading westward via the Indus Highway.

On being informed of the incident, police officials arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.

Sources says the police were reviewing surveillance footage and gathering evidence to identify and apprehend the culprits.

However, Rajanpur District Police Officer Farooq Ahmed said that armed robbers from tribal area took away over Rs400,000 from the toll plaza.

The DPO said the robbers escaped to the moun-tainous area and police teams were conducting raids in the area to apprehend them.

According to the report, in 2024, approximately 200 patients were admitted to the Central ICU due to wheat pill ingestion, while 60 cases have already been recorded in the early months of 2025. Correspondent
