RAHIM YAR KHAN: A temporary steel bridge over the Indus connecting Rahim Yar Khan and Rojhan tehsil in Rajanpur district partially collapsed on Tuesday due to erosion.
The bridge, which is seasonally installed during winter months when the river`s water flow is lower, spans two creeks and provides vital access between Dera Mushir (RY Khan side) and Katcha Chohan (Rojhan side).
Reports said a portion of the bridge at the second creek was swept away after the riverbank eroded, causing inconvenience for residents who rely on the bridge for daily travel.
Meanwhile, local boat operators began transporting people across the creek, reportedly overcharging by demanding Rs150 per person.
Repair efforts began on Wednesday, with authorities working to restore the bridge and reopen it to traffic.
A local resident said the bridge is expected to be fully repaired by Wednesday night, with normal traffic resuming on Thursday.
