OKARA: A man was handed down 14-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) with Rs1 million fine for repeatedly raping and blackmailing a girl student of a private school at 7/1L village.

The verdict was announcedbythecourtof Renala Khurd Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Shabraiz Akhtar Raja on conclusion of the trial proceedings.

The judge also ordered that on default in payment of the fine, the convict will have to further serve six-month jail term.

As per the prosecution, the convict, Nasir, a principal at a private school at 7/1L village in May 2021 served a drink spiked with some intoxicant to a Class X girl student, leaving her unconscious.

The convict then raped the girl and recorded the episode. He kept blackmailing and raping the girl later.

Finally, the girl shred her ordeal with her mother, who lodged a case against the convict with Renala Saddar police under sections 376and2920fthePPC.

After the verdict, the police shifted the convict to Okara district jail.

ACCIDENTS: A youth died, while nine other persons, including women and children, were injured in four incidents in the district on Wednesday.

As per Rescue 1122, a youth identified as Ali (18), a resident of Khalid Town, died after he fell from his motorcycle on the GT Road.

In the second incident, a woman, Nazia, her fiveyear-old son, and threeyear-old daughter, Izal, suffered multiple injuries when a motorcyclerickshaw they were riding overturned.

In the third incident, occurring on the DPS Road at Haveli Lakkha, two women, Sheeman Bibi and Misbah, wife of Tariq, suffered injuries when a motorcycle-rickshaw they were traveling by was hit by a tractortrolley.

In the fourth incident, occurring near Chowk Shaheedan on Haveli Road, Malik Ali, Nasir and Haider Ali (14) suffered injuries when a speedy car rammed into a roadside cart.
