NTDC inducts 127 junior engineers to `expedite projects`

LAHORE: The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) Limited has inducted 127 junior engineers (electrical/electronic) in order to expedite the projects aimed at ending power crisis in the country.
According to the NTDC, as many as 6,111 candidates had applied for thepositions of junior engineers and 127 of them got through and succeeded to start their career with the company.
The objective behind inducting a number of junior engineers in one go is to overcome manpower shortage and expedite the projects of the NTDC to mitigate the power crisis.
An orientation session for the newly-inducted engineers was held here at Wapda House on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, NTDC Managing Director Dr Fiaz Ahmad Chaudhry congratulatedthe young engineers and said the company had selected the brains of the nation to meet the emerging and daunting challenges of the power sector.
`A huge responsibility is on your shoulders now.
And I hope that you will make entire efforts in assisting the company accomplish various projects,` he said.
He said about 20,000MW capacity was added to the grid during the last 69 years and the NTDC aimed to build a huge infrastructure to cater for additional 20,000MW of power till2023-24.
He urged the young engineers to own the company and complete every task within a stipulated time.
`The NTDC transmission network has spread throughout the country and it is the prime responsibility of every employee to protect the assets of the company.
`The NTDC is passing through a transformation phase leading to make it a corporate entity.
So I request you all to identify your roles by adopting a businessminded approach,` he said.
