LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced it has signed a fresh contract with A.J. Sports which will act as the kit sponsor of the Pakistan team for the ICC World Cup being staged in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14.

It may be mentioned here that the PCB was also in contract with the same company to provide kits in mid of 2000. But the contractwas cancelled after Dawn reported that the company instead of giving sufficient amount to the PCB for using his tagged kit was charging from the PCB.

On this disclosure, then PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan abolished the contract and the Board signed another deal with Nike which at that time was also the kit sponsor of the BCCI. The PCB earned sufficientlythroughthefreshcontract.

The PCB did not mention in its Thursday press release if it will earn some money through this fresh deal with A.J. Sports.

However when contacted, a PCB spokesman said the contract was given after following a proper process of tendering but he was unable to disclose any figure of the deal.
