Jewellery, cash worth millions stolen from Bahria Town

RAWALPINDI: Some burglars broke into a house in Bahria Town Phase VII and made off with gold jewellery worth Rs2340,000, $5,000 and silver worth Rs500,000 while in Islamabad robbers and thieves looted cash and valuables form different places, police said on Monday .

Ms Muzamal Khan, a resident of Islamabad, lodged an FIR with the Rawat police saying that she came to Bahria Town`s house for cleaning on Thursday and found the locl(s of the housebrokenandhouseholdsscattered.

She said on listing the goods, she found gold and silver jewllery worth Rs500,000, $5,000, perfumes valued at Rs200,000 and other valuables stolen.

Sheikh Adnan, a resident of Waris Khan area, complained to the police that he was on his way to work with his two colleagues when two persons appeared at the scene and held them at gunpoint.

He said the gunmen snatched two mobile phones and Rs144,479 from them.

Besides, twenty incidents of motorcycle theft were reported to the Rawalpindi police on Sunday.

In Islamabad, a gang of six gunmen held up Noman Danish and his friends at Shahdar Picnic Point and looted Rs62,000 cash, 200 dirham, ATM cards, a Casio watch, and two Vivo mobiles at gunpoint, they said, adding that another gang of three robbers intercepted and held up Mohammad Ali and Omer Tahir in I-10/2 and looted CD 70 motorcycle.

Furthermore, some burglars broke into a house of retired official of capital police Liaqat Ali and made off with gold ornaments 17 tolas, and a diamond necklace set valuing Rs200,000, they said, adding that a thief in guise of housemaid stole cash Rs400,000, gold ornaments valuing Rs1.8million, while working at a house of Nadir Kiani at Naval Anchorage.-StaffReporter
