SAHIWAL: The Pakpattan city police arrested on Monday two persons who allegedly facilitated the nominated murderer of the father of PML-N MPA Naveed Ali.
Suspect Ata Bugi killed Rana Ahmed Ali at his residence on Hota Road late on May 6.
The police arrested Liaqat Bugti, guard, and Hakeem Maqbool Ahmed, former business partner of the deceased, in the murder case.
A handout issued from DPO Naseebullah Khan stated both arrested people were `central accused` in the murder case. The MPA, who is complainant of the case, said both arrested suspects had a `due role` in the planning of the murder of his father.
The police said Liaquat Bugti was on duty on the night of themurder. He opened the main gate of the farmhouse and gave direct access to Ata Bugti to the house. He shot at and killed Ahmed Ali when he was asleep.
Hakeem Maqbool, of Pakpattan city, had a business rivalry with the deceased. MPA Naveed said in the past his father and Maqbool were business partners, but differences forced both to terminate the partnership.
Also, the MPA has a land dispute with Maqbool.
The police said Maqbool provided the `killer` with lodging facilities in Pakpattan city and later arranged his safe departure from Pakpattan to Sahiwal.
Atta Bugti stayed for six to seven hours in Pakpattan city.
The police claimed Maqbool confessed his role in the murder. MPA Naveed told Dawn the police are working to find some other `handlers`.
