Guide constables to be deployed in Pindi police stations

RAWALPINDI: In an effort to improve the working of police stations, it has been decided to deploy `guide constable` at the entrance of allthe 29 police stations across the Rawalpindi district.

The guide would keep a register to record the whereabouts of every individual especially victims of crime, entering the police station.

Police spokesman confirmed the deployment of `guide constables` at the gates of all police stations across the Rawalpindi district.

He said that it is an attempt to enhance the operation of police stations, which are the fundamental unit of policing, and to keep a check on the performance of police station staff and to strengthen the security of police establishments in the prevailingsecurity situation.

The purpose of individuals who will be visiting the police station will also be noted in the register whether he or she would be visiting muharar, front desk or meeting any investigating police officer.

In case, if any police official or officer will be visiting the police station, his name, belt number and purpose of his visit will also be noted by the guide constable on the register.

All the SHOs will conduct inspection of lock ups and IO`s rooms twice in a day to check whether any individual called by the IOs regarding investigation had been noted in the register or not.

If an individual was found detained illegallyin the police station or being tortured by police during visit of senior police officers, the legal actionwould be initiated against the SHO concerned and muharar of the police station.

City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani also directed the police across the district that he will conduct surprise visits to police stations and in case, if an individual was found inside with a police investigating officer and his particulars have not been registered with the guide constable`s register, strict departmental action would be initiated against the the IO.

General Holdups Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa has directed the city police officer and district police officers of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal to carry out `General Holdup` on Saturday in their respective jurisdictions where the street-crimerate is alarming and to submit their performance reports to his office by 10pm.

According to sources, RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa has directed the CPO Rawalpindi and DPOs of Attock Jhelum and Chakwal to issue directive to their SHOs to conduct `general holdup` in their respective jurisdictions where the street-crime was alarming and to submit their performance reports to his office by 10 pm on Saturday.

Thanksgiving Day On the occasion of Thanksgiving Day, tributes were paid to the Pakistani Armed Forces and the martyrs as a flag march was held which was led by SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar and participated by Divisional SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other officers .
