10 booked for attacking Lesco recovery team

OKARA: As many as 10 suspects allegedly involved in injuring and snatching cash from a Lesco recovery team in village 1/SP Wasawy Wala of Dipalpur tehsil have been booked 12 days after the incident.

According to the FIR, a Lesco recovery team headed by Haveli Lakkha sub-division Assistant Manager Operation (AMO) Urban ljaz Ahmad reached village Wasawy Wala 1/ SP and asked defaulter Zafar Iqbal to pay the pending monthly electricity bill amount.

However, the FIR claimed that the defaulter exchanged harsh words with the team. It further claimed that when the team was leaving, he along with Waseem Abbas, Andleeb, Shahroz, Hamza Mohsin and other defaulters including Mohammad Mohsin, Jawad Mohsin, Ahsan Khan and Attaullah intercepted the team and tortured them. It said that other villagers reached the spot and rescued the Lesco team.

Area police after a call on police helpline 15 reached the spot and directed the injured Lesco staff to go to the Haveli rural health centre (RHC) for treatment and obtain a medico-legal certificate.

However, when the team was on their way to the RHC, the defaulters allegedly intercepted the team and again manhandled them. They snatched Rs97,000 from the team and left.

It further claimed that the suspects were habitual defaulters and owed Lesco a total of Rs1.78 millions and had previous record with the police regarding the various Lescorelated FIRs.The Haveli Police lodged an FIR against the suspects on the complaint of AMO ljaz Ahmad.
