KARACHI: A six-year-old girl drowned and her 10-year-old brother went missing in the sea off Hawkesbay, where she had gone for a picnic with her family on Tuesday, police said.

They said the family of Abdul Malik Bhatti was having a picnic when his four children were swept into deep waters one after another while they were enjoying themselves along the beach.

`Hearing screams of the drowning children the family members, rescue worl(ers and divers rushed to the spot and rescued two children -Mehwish and Waqas, said Inspector Madad Ali Zardari, the SHO of the Mauripur police station.

`After efforts of an hour the body of six-year-old Kazeen was recovered. The rescue workers and divers of the Karachi Municipal Corporation`s emergency response centre did their best to search the 10-year-old boy but in vain. The search operation was stopped af ter sunset. The victim family was resident of Bhitai Colony.
