KARAK: The members of local Christian community claimed here on Tuesday to have foiled a bid to sell the land of a church situated in Karak city.
Faryad Masih, a representative of local Christians, told journalists that two persons impersonating as bishop and pope had come to the district to sell the land of local church. The fake bishop and pope left the area when people came to know about the conspiracy, he added.
Mr Masih said that the imposters claimed that they were members of Lahore Church Council. The local Christians protested against the act and informed police aboutthem, he said, adding they left the area after seeing the situation.
Mr Masih thanked the district police officer andlocalpeopleforextendingalloutsupport to them to foil the conspiracy against the church.
DOCTORS` SHORTAGE: The shortage of lady doctors in the health centres of the district has caused severe problems to the local women patients.
The right activists have demanded of the government to provide lady doctors to the health centres according to the population of women in the district.
The leaders of Khattak Ittehad including Noor Wali Khan, Ahmad Jan and others told journalists here on Tuesday that women in the district were facing severe hardships in get-ting healthcare facilities.
They said that for more than 700,000 population of the district only few lady doctors were available.
The rights activists said that local women couldn`t go to male doctors for treatment due to culturalrestraints.
People also faced difficulties in postmortem of deceased women owing to shortage of lady doctors, they added.
The rights activists said that local people were forced to take women patients to hospitalsin other districts.
They demanded of the government to provide lady doctors to all hospitals in the district.
The government should fulfil its promise of bringing change, they added.
