PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company on Thursday said it had restored power supply in 98 per cent area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was affected by heavy rains and storm on Wednesday.
A statement issued by Pesco said that about 651 feeders were badly affected. In many areas, it said the storm had caused damage to the power transmission lines, poles and other installations and as a result power supply remained suspended for many hours.
The spokesman said that a task force headed by chief engineer (operations) Mohammad Iqbal Marwat had been formed for restoration of power supply on emergency basis.
Power supply to 180 feeders had been restored in the night following a break in the rainstorm and 500 feeders were made functional later. “The rehabilitation work of the remaining feeders will be completed soon,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Pesco has announced that due to maintenance work, power supply will remain suspended from 132KV Sakhi Chashma Grid Station on June 17 from 4:00am to 10:00am, resultantly consumers of 11 KV Pir Bala and Industrial feeders will face inconvenience.
Power supply will remain suspended from 132KV Peshawar Fort Grid Station on 18th and19th June from 4:30am to 9:30am, resultantly consumers of 11KV Karimpura and Nishtarabad feeders will face inconvenience.
