RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency`s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) on Thursday rounded up seven persons seeking US visa on fake documents, besides arresting a travel agent who provided them the documents, an official of the FIA said.
He, however, said efforts were under way to arrest main accused operating from the US. The accused were arrested from outside the US embassy.
`The main travel agent who has been operating from America has received more than Rs1 million from the seven individuals for arranging their visit to the US through a local agent Muhammad Zubai. He also promised the local agent that he would send him US visa free of cost and would bear other expenditures,` a source close to the investigation suggested.
Among those arrested by the FIA, one belonged to Rawalpindi while the other from Norawal and the rest were from Azad Kashmir.
A senior official of the FIA said that the local agent who submitted US visa application along with fake documents was arrested by the FIA team from the embassy premises.
The accused were shifted to the FIA`s AHTC for further investigations. The FIA official said that all the accused would be produced in the court for remand. The process to bring the main agent back to Pakistan would soon be initiated, the official said. Staff Reporter
