AS a resident of a locality lying on the Islamabad Expressway, I was dismayed by the non-inclusion of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project in the PSDP of the recently announced Punjab budget.
This came despite repeated announcements by the provincial government that the project would be rolled out from the start of the next financial year.
The mushroom growth of new housing schemes and localities and the growing traffic on the Islamabad Expressway in recentyearshadledtoasense ofurgency among the provincial and RDA authorities to give the project a serious thought. As such, the past year was spent in drawing up fresh feasibility and the project was to start in July this year to be completed in two years.
May I request the provincial government and RDA authorities to have mercy on the plight of commuters and reconsider allocating requisite funds for the completion of this project.
