Wars for peace

2025-07-17
THIS is with reference to the article `Man of peace?` (June 30), which stressed that United States President Donald Trump`s actions belie his words. Iwould like to argue that the man clearly loves making peace as his repeated calls for peace demonstrate.

His problem is that to make peace, there first have to be wars to be stopped.

To be a peacemaker at the scale he envisages, Trump needs that there be many more wars. As such, he needs to instigate wars so as to be able to make peace and satisfy his hunger for making peace.

Of course, in the process some lives are lost, but that can be ignored as `collateral damage`. If, in pursuance of this strategy, there is a dramatic increase in the amount of armaments being used, he cannot be blamed for helping the armament industry make a few hundreds of billions of dollars with the enhanced sales.

While `serving humanity`, he is rapidly approaching the status of the world`s first trillionaire. One can hardly blame Trumpfor that. Activists may go on complaining about how much these wars are actually adding to the burden of global warming and climate change, but Trump has an `effective` answer to all such claims: `There is no such thing as climate change.
