UoP hosts webinar on Israel-Iran conflict

PESHAWAR: The department of international relations, University of Peshawar, organised an international webinar titled `Fault Lines and Flashpoints: Decoding the 2025 Israel-Iran Confrontation` on Wednesday.

A statement issued here said that speakers from Pakistan, the United States, Australia, Turkey, Tunisia, and Central Asia tuned in to discuss one of the most volatile geopolitical flashpoints in the Middle East.

The webinar opened with the welcome remarks by Dr Minhas Majeed Khan, chairperson of the department.

She emphasised the importance of student-led academic platforms in shaping discourse and appreciated International Relations Students Association (IRSA) of the department for organising the timely discussion.

Ambassador Asif Durrani delivered the keynote address, highlighting the strategic, ideological, and regional dimensions of the Iran-Israel confrontation and the urgent need for diplomacy.

Prof Nazir Hussain, former dean of the School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, addressed the strategic fallout and global power alignments.

Prof Mohammad Khan from International Islamic University, Islamabad, traced the historical and ideological roots of the conflict.

Renowned journalist Kathy Gannon offered a media perspective, urging critical engagement with conflict narratives.
