MARDAN: Members of District Council Mardan have rejected the provincial government’s plan to halt work on the Ameer Mohammad Khan Park project located near the Sheikh Maltoon Township here.
They expressed these views at a council meeting held here on Tuesday which was presided over by District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar Advocate. The councillors said that they would move court against the said plan of the provincial government if it did not take back its decision.
On the occasion, Himayatullah Mayar recalled that the mega project was started by the previous ANP-led government for the residents of Mardan. He also criticised Pesco for carrying out unscheduled loadshedding in the district.
However, relevant officials present at the meeting informed the nazim that they had been carrying out load management owing to delay in the construction of a third grid station.
They sought cooperation from public representatives to remove hurdles being faced by them in construction of the grid station.
The district council members of different political parties also condemned the deadly suicide attack on Quetta Civil Hospital, and demanded of the government to take effective steps for implementation of the National Action Plan to uproot the menace of terrorism from the country.
