Five-year-old killed by pack of dogs

BAHAWALNAGAR: A minor boy of Basti Kaporan was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs on Wednesday.

According to Madrasa Station House Officer Sarfraz Husain, fiveyear-old Atif was returning home from school when a pack of stray dogs mauled him to death. By the time people responded to his cries, Atif had died.

The family buried the boy without postmortem.

The incident shocked the residents of the area.

Atif`s father Shaukat told Dawn that the locality was full of stray dogs. He said they had submitted complaints to the authorities to cull them but in vain.

Residents said they would not send their children to school until the administration put downthe dogs.

CASE: Shehr Fareed police registered a case against Tariq Kharal and Waris Kharal for allegedly kidnapping the son of a seminary teacher and torturing him in Basti Fazalpura.

According to the police, Falak Sher, a seminary teacher at Basti Fazalpura, alleged that his son Ramzan, 16, was kidnapped by Tariq and Waris.

They stripped Ramzan naked and subjected him to severe torture. They also poured toxic chemical down his throat and threw him on the road.

The police said children of the suspects were students at the same seminary.

They kidnapped and tortured Ramzan for teacher Falak Sher had punished their children.

Ramzan was being treated at the Chishtian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
