Govt asked to release heads of private schools

2020-08-17
MARDAN: The Private Schools Management Association, Mardan chapter, on Sunday condemned the arrest of principals and owners of private educational institutions, and asked for their immediate release.

Speaking at a meeting, the members of the association criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for arresting the private schools’ principals and owners for opening their institutions from August 15.

The meeting was chaired by the association’s president Naseer Afridi They termed the government action unjust, saying that it was equal to anti-education policy. They asked the provincial government to encourage and support private schools principals and owners instead of taking action against them.

They urged the government to release their arrested colleagues forthwith, or they would be forced to come onto the streets.

The government had decided to open all educational institutions from Sept 15, but the private educational institutions’ management opened schools and colleges on August 15. — Correspondent
