Detainees hurt in firing on police party

SWABI: Two detained accused were injured when their accomplices opened fire on a police party as they were on way to Batakara village for recovery of a stolen motorcycle, claimed police in a press release on Friday.

The accused were identified as Imran alias Irfan, and Jan Sher, hailing from Swat and presently residing at Gandaf Camp, Swabi.

The police were taking them to Batakara village, where they had parked the stolen motorcycle, when two armed motorcyclists opened fire on the police party and escaped.

As a result, the two detained accused were injured.

The police said that the accused belonged to an inter-provincial gang and had a record of murder and attempted murder, firing on a police, theft and robbery, as cases had been registered against them in various police stations.
