Moin satisfied with team`s overall performance

KARACHI, Sept 16: Pakistan team manager for the Zimbabwe series Moin Khan defended the squad on Monday, though it performed miserably, and said the green-shirts` overall show was `satisfactory`.
`I don`t think our [cricketing] level is falling.
The playing conditions suited Zimbabwe team more than us. In both the matches that we lost [ODI and Test] we played badly. We didn`t bat well in the second Test, but overall I would say that our performance was satisfactory,` Moin said after arriving here from Zimbabwe on Monday.
In Zimbabwe, Pakistan after clinching the two-match Twenty20 series 2-0, lost one game in the three-match ODI series winning it 2-1.
The tourists however could only manage to draw the two-game Test rubber 1-1 after losing the final Test by 24 runs to a spirited Zimbabwe a highly unexpected result though for millions of Pakistan fans.
Moin reckoned Pakistan team didn`t need to be apologetic for the results, underlining the tourists had not lost the Test series in Zimbabwe.
However, when asked about the performance of specific players on the Zimbabwetour, the former Test wicket-keeper insisted it was important not to `demoralise` the players and rather take measures to boost their confidence.
`I won`t say that he is consistently failing, Moin said about Mohammad Hafeez, who had an ordinary Test series with the bat against Zimbabwe. `He batted well in the T20s and ODIs but his batting couldn`t click in the Test series. However, he remains keen [to improvej and will try to regain his form.
Moin lauded the performance of the team`sseniors in Zimbabwe, highlighting the contribution of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.
`Misbah`s performance was very good.
Younis ended up with the man-of-the-series award,` he said. `If you look at our batting during the Zimbabwe tour it becomes obvious the seniors played their part. Misbah was there till the very end [in the second Test] but no one helped him from the other end,` he regretted.
Moin said head coach Day Whatmore would take necessary measures to overcome the mistakes made during the tour.
`It was not in my domain to plan things, Moin said. `Everyone makes mistakes and I am sure that Whatmore will be doing his best to overcome those mistakes. When you lose to a team like Zimbabwe you learn a lot of lessons.
Earlier, four members of national squad along with Moin arrived here from Harare.
Besides Moin, Younis Khan, Khurram Manzoor, Asad Shafiq and Faisal Iqbal returned from Zimbabwe.
Captain Misbah-ul-Haq, off-spinner Saeed Ajmal and paceman Ehsan Adil directly flew India to represent Faisalabad Wolves in the Champions League qualifiers starting on Tuesday.-Agencies
