2015-09-17
RAWALPINDI: A private school principal, who had received extortion threat a week ago, escaped a gun attack in the Naseerabad area on Wednesday. A passerby, however, was injured.

According to the police, after the attack the principal again received another threatening call apparently made by the attackers.

Ehsan Tanveer, the Naseerabad SHO, told Dawn the school principal was going in his car when two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on him.

He said though the principal escaped the attack, a passerby came under the attack and sustained bullet injuries.

The injured was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where he was stated to be in a critical condition.

The school principal had already received a threatening call in which the caller had demanded $ 300,000 from him. The police had already registered a case after the first threatening call was received.

Last week, two traders of the Cantonment Area had received threatening calls from extortionists. None of the callers had been traced by the police and culprits arrested so far.
