New academic block building opens at BZU

MULTAN: Bahauddin Zakariya University ViceChancellor Dr Khawaja Algama inaugurated a new building of the academic block of the faculty of veterinary science here on Wednesday.

The building has been completed at a cost of Rs200 million while the estimated cost for the project was Rs215m.

Addressing the participants, the VC said the southern Punjab`s agriculture was the backbone of the country`s agriculture sector.

He said the university had also worked for the breeding and treatment of the livestock.

`The university is playing a leading role in veterinary sciences in the region,` he said.

The VC said the university administrationensured the quality of education of veterinary sciences by resolving the longstanding issue of accreditation.

He claimed that the university secured 8th position in the Higher Education Commission`s ranking due to the research work.

Faculty of Veterinary Sciences dean Prof Dr Masood Akhtar said the faculty was utilizing modern techniques of higher education to bring the southern Punjab on a par with other developed areas of the country.

Project Director Aftab Ahmed Sahu said the building had been completed in a record time of only 18 months.

Engineer Malik Muhammad Rafique said that classrooms and laboratories in the academic block were equipped with modern machinery.
