Luxurious buildings to be used for public welfare: governor

MURREE: From now onward luxurious buildings would be used only for the welfare of the citizens, said Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar.

Speaking at a function arranged to formally open the Bhurban rest house for the public on Sunday, he said in the past billions of rupees were spent on the lavish and luxurious lifestyles of the ruling elite. He said loans amounting to billions of rupees were also taken from foreign money lenders. But from now onward, he added, public interest decisions would be taken in consultation with the citizens.

The governor said he had been entrusted with an additional responsibility of providing clean drinking water to the people. He said work on the Bull( Water Supply Scheme for Murree was stopped on political basis and the PTI government in consultation with the local elected representatives would complete the project.

He said Lower Topa to Kohala road and the establishment of a university in Murree would be considered for the betterment of the locals.

MNA Sadagat Ali Abbasi, MPA Latasab Satti, local PTI workers and tourists participated in the function.
