KP declares four districts most sensitive for Muharram

PESH AWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared Peshawar, DI Khan, Kohat and Hangu the most sensitive districts in the province for Muharram and decided to conduct aerial surveillance of security arrangements and processions there.
Also, it divided the provinceinto26 zones and asked the relevant officials to take concrete steps for the protection of public life and property during the month.
According to an official of Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Section 144 of CrPc will remain impose d in the four most sensitive districts from Muharram 1 to Muharram 10, while there will be a complete ban on pillion riding and driving vehicles with tinted glasses.
The personnel of the lawenforcement agencies have been directed to collect data of anti-social elements in their respective jurisdictions and conduct crackdown on them.
In the province, Muharram processions will appear from 193 imambargahs, where the police will have to ensure checking of the relevant routes by personnel of the Bomb Disposal Unit through sniffer dogs and detectors.
There will be a ban on use of loud speakers for unnecessary speeches.
Heavy contingents of police, backed by Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary will be deployed to maintain law and order.
Similarly, police volunteers and civil defence personnel will remain active to support the police.
The personnel of different secret agencies will have to compile reports about the people distributing literature, chalking slogans on sectarian hatred on walls and provoking emotions on basis of belief for action against them.
The administration of different districts have been directed to hold meetings with representatives of different sects of ulema, traders, social workers and other relevant organisations to avail their support in maintenance of peace on the occasion.
There will be a complete ban on display of arms, ammunitions and movement of Afghan nationals near different imambargahs.
The law and order situation will be monitored through command posts in different districts.
The law-enforcement personnel will specially focus their attention on movement of the people coming from Afghanistan and different tribal regions to Peshawar and other districts.
Besides, the home and trial affairs department has also established the provincial crisis management centre where the home secretary will personally monitor security arrangements.
Also, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police will monitor security arrangements in the province to take immediate action in case of any problem in any corner of the province.
