GUJRAT: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has appointed the seniormost faculty member of the University of Gujrat, Dr Muhammad Faheem Malik, as acting vice chancellor of the UoG.
The selection process of a new UoG VC and four other public sector universities of Punjab has been delayed due to the litigation as the selection board was challenged in a court of law.
Dr Faheem Malik had earlier beenserving as the faculty of sciences dean in the UoG while the VC office was vacated by Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin on Oct 10 after serving for eight years with two consecutive terms.
The Punjab Higher Education Department had recommended the name of Dr Faheem Malik for the acting VC till the selection of the new VC.

They said Dr Faheem might continue as the acting VC for a longer time as the Punjab Higher Education Department had also delegated some extra authorities to him unlike an acting VC.
Dr Faheem Malik has assumed the charge on Thursday afternoon and held a brief meeting with registrar Dr Tahir Ageel and other officials of his ofHce.-Correspondent
