LAHORE: The Punjab Specialized Health and Medical Education Department has constituted a high-level committee to hold an inquiry into the thrashing of a patient and his brother in Mayo Hospital allegedly by some doctors on Saturday.

A notification issued on Sunday by Specialized Health and Medical Education Department secretary Najam Ahmad Shah said that University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor retired Maj-Gen Dr Muhammad Aslam would be the convener of the committee while department’s special secretary Dr Sajid Mehmood Chohan and senior medical teacher Prof Eice Muhammad would be its members.

The committee would look into the facts, collect evidence and record statements of all concerned and submit within 72 hours a report to the secretary containing recommendations.— Staff Reporter
