KARACHl: Three girl classmates of a private school who had gone missing in Saudabad area and were believed to be kidnapped on Friday were safely recovered from a Liaquatabad locality on Sunday, said a senior police officer.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) of the police and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), in a joint raid, recovered the girls reportedly from a home of the relative of one of the three detained boys.

`With the help of the CPLC and use of modern technology, the police have recovered the girls safely,` said CIA DIG Dr Jamil Ahmed.

`No harm has been done to the girls,` added the senior officer.

Initial investigation suggested that the girls had left on their own.

`There are some lessons out of the whole episode for society and particularly for parents which would be shared with the entire media through a joint press conference of police and the CPLC officials on Monday afternoon,` said Dr Ahmed.

The three girls were studying in class nine.

Their parents lodged FIRs for their kidnapping at the police station when they did not return home from their private school on late Friday evening.

The parents raised suspicions about the involvement of three teenagers who were taken into custody for interrogation.

One police officer, who wished not to be named, told Dawn that the parents knew that their daughters tended to remain in touch with the held boys through mobile phones.

It transpired during the initial probe that one of the missing girls had sent an SMS to one of the held boys, telling him that `we are planning to run away`.
