Abida eyes PTI ticket for NA-89

JHANG: Former federal minister Syeda Abida Hussain has said she was in contact with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership and was seriously considering to contest next general election on the party`s ticket from NA-89.

Addressing a press conference at Shah Jeewana House here late on Sunday, Ms Hussain said she had left the Pakistan People`s Party five years back and since then she had been in touch with the PTI leadership.

She said her daughter Sughra Imam would contest the next poll from two National Assembly constituencies -NA-88, NA-90, claiming she was a strong candidate for both the seats.

She said in NA-89 the actual contest would be between her and PML-N candidate Sheikh Muhammad Akram.

She added that Sheikh Akram had lost popularity in the constituency because he had failed to serve the people.

She said despite the critical political scenario obtaining in the country, there were no threat of another martial law.

She said if ex-premier Nawaz Sharif`s son-in-law could be granted bail in cases of serious nature, PTI`s chief Imran Khan too should appear in the court of law.

Responding to a question, the former ambassador said the US` Afghan policy had been a failure and now the American establishment was trying to dump its debris on Pakistan.

She added it was the time for Pakistan get its stance accepted at the global level.
