Classic cars exude elegance

LAHORE: Vintage cars of different makes and colours from across the country were on display at the Polo Ground, GOR-I, here on Wednesday.

The show was organised by the Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan (VCCCP) as part of the 7th annual classic car rally.

The rally commenced from Karachi on Nov 11 and is scheduled to end in Peshawar on 20th.

At the event, more than 50 cars were showcased.Themodelsrangedfrom1950sto80s.Of particular attraction were 1957 Austin Healey, the oldest car at the event; 1949 MG Y, 1976 Cadillac Alldorado and 1986 Jaguar XJS, 1989 Ferrari, 1971 Rolls Royce, 1967 Mercedes Convertible, 1973 Mercedes Convertible, 1969 Alpha Romeo, 1960 Alpha Romeo Spider, MG TC, MG BGT, BMW2002 and Triumph Spitfire.Among the cars showcased was also the Daimler Limo used popularly by the Queen of England. The event was well attended by socialites, the media and car enthusiasts.

Speakingabout theevent,VCCCP President Mushahid Shah said: `We are avid lovers of classic cars. We launched this organisation with the hope that we would be able to provide a reliable platform for people to showcase their collection of cars. Since the inception we have managed to successfully keep this vision alive by hosting numerous events. This is our 7th consecutive year hosting the VCCCP car rally and we hope to continue this tradition with the same passion in future.

A visitor, Qasim Sarfraz, said such shows should be held frequently because it was a healthy activity.

Another visitor, Arif Farooq, was of the view that the cars had their own elegance and they were representative of their times.
