KARACHI: A Chinese navy flotilla, including the ocean salvage and rescue ship Changxingdao and PLA(N) ship Handan, arrived on a goodwill visit to Pakistan on Wednesday.

The Chinese platforms would take part in the fourth PN-PLA(N) bilateral exercises encompassing harbour and sea phases, said a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations.

The PLA (Navy) task group was extended a warm welcome and traditional hospitality on arrival.

Senior officials of the Pakistan Navy and personnel of the Chinese consulate were present on the occasion.

The exercises are expected to go a long way in promoting maritime secu-rity in the wake of the recent inauguration of the Gwadarport, said the statement.APP
