14 students hospitalised after taking `candies`

TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as 14 students of the Government Primary School, Chak 322-JB, Shahzada (Azafi Abadi), landed in hospital after consuming unwholesome or expired candies.

Police said grocer Muhammad Arshad, whose shop was located in front of the school, threw discarded goods, including some packs of candies, outside his shop.

During recess, 14 students consumed candies.

After half an hour they all started vomiting. The school headmistress called Rescue 1122 which shif ted them to the DHQ Hospital.

According to doctors, the students are stable after treatment.

The students have been identified as Yasir Shakoor (3), Sumera Karamat (5), Tayaba Mustafa (4), Tayaba Munir (6), NoorFatima (10), Wajid Ali (12), Asma Perveen (10), Shumaila Munir (10), Karishma Jabbar (13), Saghar Munir (8), Qamar Abbas (10), Abeera Ghafoor (9), Naila Parveen (6) and Saad Ali (8).

SHOT DEAD: A 35-yearold woman was shot dead here on Thursday near accounts office at district government complex.

Witnesses said Nabila Kausar, wife of Ghulam Hussain of Chak 392-JB Garh, was on her way on foot when two motorcyclists opened fire.

She suffered critical injuries and died on way to hospital.

Her husband said Nabila was going to the revenue office to get her inherited farmland transferred to her name. He said his wife had no enmity and he did not know who killed her.

Police are investigating the matter. They are yet to register a case.
