SOUTH WAZlRISTAN: Five elders were wounded when unknown persons hurled a grenade at a jirga near Wana Bazaar here on Tuesday.
Locals said the jirga was convened to resolve a land dispute in Karkanra area.
Elders and religious figures of the area were attending the jirga when the attackers threw a grenade at the gathering.
The police said the explosion caused injuries to five people, who were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Wana. Later, three of the critically wounded were referred to a Dera Ismail Khan hospital.
Sources said the provincial government had directed the district administration to resolve the land dispute between Doatani and Wazir tribes. The administration had recently claimed that the dispute had been resolved. However, the Wazir tribe expressed reservations over the decision. Correspondent
