BAJAUR: A local religious figure was shot dead by a nephew over a dispute in Sikandro area of Utmankhel tehsil here on Monday night, residents and Rescue 1122 officials said.
A rescue official told Dawn that Maulana Noor Raheem Jan, 58, who was a theology teacher at a government school, was critically wounded in the attack and was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, where he succumbed.
The police launched investigation into the incident after registering a case.
Separately, 14 people were injured when a van plunged into a ravine in Mandal area of Salarzai tehsil on Tuesday.
Rescue 1122 officials said the vehicle was negotiating a sharp turn when it veered off the road.
The locals shifted the wounded to the district headquarters hospital, wherefrom two critically injured were shifted to a Peshawar hospital. — Correspondent
