ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Judge (East) Tanvir Mir on Tuesday handed down life imprisonment on a young man and his girlfriend for raping and killing an eight-year-old student.

According to the Bhara Kahu police, the man in connivance with the woman raped and killed the student when she came to her house for tuition in February last year.

Later, the man burnt the body and dumped it into a nullah. According to the police investigations, the convict used to trap teenage girls through his girlfriend.

A few months ago, the relatives of the man managed to make a deal with the father of the deceased girl. However, the public prosecutor, Amir Nadeem Tabish, and a group of lawyers led by Advocate Rizwan Abbasi pleaded before the court that the offences were non-compoundable and none of the parties could make any deal in the case. After being convinced from their arguments, the court announced the verdict.

The convicts were also charged with killing the daughter of a police officer. However, in this case, the court acquitted them due to the lack of evidence.
