NEW DELHI: Indians from all walks of life, including actors, writers and even politicians who have been hostile towards Pakistan, grieved for Peshawar`s young terror victims on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif and expressed deep condolences over the unspeakable tragedy.

`Spoke to PM Nawaz Sharif over the telephone. Offered my deepest condolences onthe dastardlyterrorattackinPeshawar, he tweeted, adding that he had also offered to provide all assistance to Pakistan `during this hour of grief`.

The prime minister has also appealed to schools across India to observe two minutes of silence on Wednesday as a mark of solidarity with Pakistan`s schoolchildren.

`It is a senseless act of unspeakable brutality that has claimed lives of the most innocent of human beings young children in their school,` Mr Modi said in a separate statement.

`My heart goes out to everyone who lost their loved ones today. We share their pain and offer our deepest condolences.

Actor Raveena Tandon was horrified and pained. `Oh God, you are being questioned now as the world sheds tears for those innocent souls! Lil Angels of the future! `I strongly condemn the terrorist attack on a school at Peshawar.
