MIRPURKHAS: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz held a demonstration outside the press club on Tuesday in protest against lawlessness and increase in crimes in the city.

The protesters’ leaders said that crime had increased and lawlessness prevailed in the city because of corrupt police officers. They urged the authorities to take action against criminals and punish them and replace corrupt police officers.

In a press statement, Mirpurkhas Jamaat-i-Islami chief Afzal Ahmed expressed concern over growing lawlessness and demanded the Sindh government immediately replace the corrupt police officers.

He said that robberies, street crimes and extortion had become a routine in the city and gutka, mainpuri, narcotics and liquor were being sold openly under supervision of police.

He urged the chief minister, IGP and other authorities concerned to take drastic measures to restore peace in the city.
