Mirpurkhas shut in mourning over Peshawar tragedy

MIRPURKHAS: Enraged youths took to the streets and forced shopkeepers to pull down shutters in many areas of the city on Tuesday in protest against terrorists` attack on an army public school in Peshawar that claimed lives of over 120 schoolchildren.

In the wake of the spontaneous protest by youths, president of All Private Schools Management Association Mirpurkhas, Faisal Khan Zai, announced closure of academic activities in all schools on Wednesday.

He said that school administrations would observe a day of mourning on Wednesday and hold Quran Khwani and Fateha.

LARKANA: Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that the national flag will fly at half-mast on Wednesday in all schools across Sindh in mourning over the tragic deaths of over 120 children in the Peshawar terrorist attack.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the minister said that special prayers would be offered for the martyrs in schools throughout the province.Terrorism would be defeated with the help of education and knowledge as the terrorists were trying to spread darkness by extinguishing the lights of knowledge, said Mr Khuhro.

He said that the nation had forgotten its differences and become united at this juncture against the Taliban but Imran Khan was tight-lipped.

He should clarify his position whether he was against them or not, he said.

He advised the KhyberPakhtunkhwa chief minister to focus on development and law and order in his province instead of dancing in the party sit-ins.
