KARACHI: Police on Wednesday claimed to have detained at least one dozen suspected militants in two separate raids on the outskirts of the metropolis.

Contingents of police conducted targeted raids in Jinjal Goth and Ahmed Jamal Para of Sohrab Goth and apprehended 12 suspected militants, Malir SSP Rao Anwar said.

He said held suspects belonged to the Waziristan and Tank areas.

The police had received intelligence reports that the suspected militants were regrouping and planning terror acts. Some of them were allegedly involved in kidnapping for ransom, the police officer added.
