APS victims remembered amid prayers, pledges

BAHAWALPUR: Rallies, candlelit vigils, prayers and special ceremonies were held here at Dring Stadium, Army Public School (APS), Rescue 1122 and several others schools and institutions to pay homage to the APS Peshawar victims and express solidarity with their families.

The central event attended by a large number of parents and families of slain armed forces and police personnel was arranged by the administration at the stadium where divisional Commissioner Saqib Saeed announced renaming of Government Satellite Town Boys High School to Shuhada Army Public School.

Police, Desert Rangers and Rescue 1122 presented a march. Commemorative events were also held at Sanat Zaar -district industrial home, CMH Institute of Medical Sciences and Bahawalpur Arts Council.

SAHIWAL: Education can counter sectarianism, religious fundamentalism and in the long run ensure religious harmony among all segments of society. Modern Pakistan cannot afford fragmentation in the name of religion.

This was stated by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Asif Iqbal while concluding a commemorative event for APS Peshawar. A large number of students, parents, civil society activists, citizens, media personnel and officials from the armed forces, PML-N district office-bearers attended the seminar.

SHEIKHUPURA: Five government schools in the district were renamed in thememory of APS Peshawar carnage.

The DCO in an address announced that Government High School Sheikhupura, Government High School Khangah Dogran, Government Pilot Secondary School Sharagpur, Government High School Imamia Colony Ferozewala and Government Higher Secondary School Muridke would be renamed to Government Shuhada-i-APS.

OKARA: Dec 16 united the nation that stood behind the army and other law enforcement agencies to fight terrorism and terrorists. This was stated at an event arranged by the district government and hosted by DCO Sucrat Aman Rana.

The participants raised slogans to commemorate the APS victims. A flower wreath was laid at a memorial for the victims in the DCO`s office lawn. Prayers were offered and a minute`s silence observed.The district bar association in a general house meeting chaired by its President Chaudhry Aslam Javed remembered the APS victims and acknowledged sacrifice of the children.

Dozens of stamp vendors and deed writers took out a rally in the district complex led by Anees Baloch and Muhammad Akram Faridi.

GUJRANWALA: Students of various schools and colleges, teachers, army men, lawmakers and civil society members paid tribute to the APS Peshawar victims.

The Mustafia Student Movement (MSM) organised a candlelit rally at Government Higher Secondary School and paid homage to the APS students. The Jamaat-i-Islami organised a multi-party conference at its district office and criticised the government for non-implementation of the National Action Plan.
