Robbers shoot man over resistance in Clifton

KARACHI: A young man was shot and injured by armed robbers over resistance in Clifton on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The Boat Basin police said Shan Aslam, 24, was injured during a dacoity resistance near Park Towers. The victim was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
SSP-South Syed Asad Raza said Aslam, along with his friend, was taking their selfies near Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim when the armed pillion riders arrived there and tried to snatch a cell phone from him.
He put up resistance, got hold of one suspect and even tore his kameez.
But another suspect opened fire on him and fled along with his cell phone. He suffered bullet injuries to his shoulder.
The senior officer said the police had got significant clues about the identity of the robbers.
Driver of online taxi service arrested Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a driver of an online taxiservice who had stolen cash and other valuables of his passenger, a Chinese national, at the Hawkesbay beach.
The Chinese national, Gaoxiongiie, hired a Toyota Corolla taxi from Seaview on Jan 11 and travelled in it to reached Hawkesbay beach. He left his bag in the taxi and went tothe seasidefor apicnic.
The bag contained Rs100,000, one laptop, cellphone, passport, visa card and Chinese identity card, which were taken away by the car driver.
The Mauripur police registered an FIR on his complaint against the unknown driver.
Keamari SSP (Investigation) Shumyl Riaz Malik said theforeignerhad come from Thailand just a day ago.
An investigation team led by the station investigation officer of Mauripur, Hasan Raza, with the help of technology arrested the suspect online taxi driver identified as Qadir Bux, and recovered the car and cell phone.
The suspect `confessed` that he had sold the stolen cellphone and drew Rs700,000 from the victim`s credit card.
