RAWALPINDI: Awani Muslim League (AML) leader and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who was arrested on Tuesday by police from outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) after his bail was rejected in a case related to May 9 violence, was sent to Adiala Jail on Wednesday.

Sheikh Rashid was granted bail in all other cases, except one FIR #2106/23 registered with the New Town police, for which he was arrested by the police.

The AML leader was previously arrested in September 2023 by the Punjab police during a crackdown against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its supporters following incidents of attacks on the military installations on May 9, when party chairman Imran Khan was also arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
