Pakistan`s `peace formula`

2025-01-18
KARACHI: Pakistan has informed India that the only way to promote peace was to enter into `firm commitments` in the shape of `binding formulas` laying down the methods of procedure to settle the major disputes in `precise terms`. This was revealed in a 1,000word statement made by Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan in the Pakistan Parliament on Tuesday [Jan 17]. A `mere declaration` condemning resort to war for settlement of disputes would not carry any conviction unless supported by `concrete action`, he said.

Pakistan`s peace formula for a just ... settlement of all outstanding issues which would remove ... `causes and fear of war`, the Prime Minister disclosed, had been communicated to India... . `The Government of India`s reply is awaited.` Staff correspondent [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Colombo,] the Canadian delegation to the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers` Conference in Colombo will conduct exploratory trade talks in Pakistan, India and Japan... . The delegation is expected to visit Delhi, Karachi, Rangoon, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Wake Island, Honolulu and San Francisco on their way home.
