LAHORE: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Friday closed Bibian Pak Daman`s shrine fordevotees afterthe attack at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in which 83 devotees were killed.
The LEAs reached the Bibian Pak Daman shrine and took charge of the premises by closing it. The security personnel also carried out a search operation in the localities around the shrine.
A security official said it was very difficult to ensure security of Bibian Pak Daman`s shrine being located in a populated and congested area. He said during the current security situation of the country it`s very unsafe to open the shrine for the devotees. The agencies also closed the adjacent markets in and around the shrine, he said, adding that security had been beefed up all over the country to avoid any untoward incident.
The security agencies conducted search and sweep operation in and around the Data Darbar also. They cancelled all the VIP security passes and took stringent measures to ensure the security of the shrine.
The administrator of the shrine, Dr Noor Muhammad Awan, said they had taken measures to ensure foolproof security of the shrine.
He said they also increased the number of the CCTV cameras to 110 at the darbar and they were also monitoring the situation them.
In 2010, 37 people were killed in the blast when two suicide bombers blew themselves up at the Data Darbar which was packed with the devotees.
