Punjabi films festival from 22nd

LAHORE: The Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (Pilac), in collaboration with the Information and Culture Department, will provide a rare opportunity to the generation of 70s and generally to all film fanciers by holding a week-long Punjabi movies festival from Feb 22 to 28.
The festival being organised at Pilac will feature celebrated movies from Punjabi cinema, a nostalgic camera rolling on the silver screen. The festival is a part of the spring festival celebrations and films to be screened have been piclced from late 50s to 2007.
A number of film, TV artists, singers and personalities related to performing arts will be invited at the launch of the festival which would be a lively affair in terms of participation by film folks and other guests.
The inaugural film will be romantic and celebratedmovie Heer Ranjah which was released on June 19, 1970. Maula Jatt featuring Sultan Rahi, Mustafa Qureshi and Asia will be screened on Feb 23. The film wasreleased on Feb11,1979.
On Feb 24, movie Sher Khan will be screened, starring Sultan Rahi and Anjuman. The film was first released on Aug 2, 1981. Kartar Singh, featuring Allauddin and Mussarat Nazir, will be screened on Feb 25. The movie was released on June 18, 1959.
On Feb 26, Mauhabattan Sachian will be screened, featuring Babrik Shah and Veena Malik. The film was released on Oct 14, 2007.
Majajan, starring Shan and Saima, will be released on Feb 27. The movie was screened for the first time on Jan 6, 2006.
Choorian, starring Moamar Rana and Saima, will be screened on the concluding day of the festival. The movie was first released on Oct 16, 1998.
Officials said the main aim of the festival was to highlight the Punjabi culture through cinema.
