Two children crushed to death by truck

KASUR: Two minor boys, children of brick kiln workers, were crushed to death by a coal-laden truck at a brick kiln near Hatrian village on Friday.
According to the Kot Radha Kishan police, a truck driven by Jamil Ahmed reached a brick kiln, owned by Malik Ijaz, at Hatrian village.
The driver rushed his truck to the kiln and could not see the children playing there.
As a result, the truck ran over two children, including Rehan, 3, and Abid, 5. Rehan died instantly while Rescue 1122 rushed Abid to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for medical aid.
Doctor at the hospital pronounced Abid dead.
Police claimed to have arrested the driver while his assistant, Shahid, managed his escape.
Police sent the bodies to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy.
In a separate incident, a man died while three suffered injuries in a collision between a motorcycle and a bus near Ghaneykay level crossing.
A bus, according to police, hit the motorcycle carrying Hakim Ali, 40, Akbar, 32, Nadeem , 20, and Akram, 30, near therailway crossing.
Resultantly, Ali died on the spot.
Rescue 1122, shifted the three injured to the THQ Hospital where Ahmed was stated to be critical. The driver of the bus managed to escape.
PROTEST: Scores of people, including women, from village Gaga staged a protest demonstration near the DPO Office on the Ferozepur Road in the limits of Saddar Police Station against police for not lodging a case of the child who had been missing for the last three days.
The protesters who were raising slogans against police also blocked Katchery Chowk by burning tyres on it.
The club-wielding protesters said the five-yearold boy had been missing since Wednesday but despite repeated complaints on the emergency 15, police did not respond.
They also alleged the police were reluctant to lodge a complaint against unidentified kidnappers.
The protesters expressed theirfear that the boy might be killed after sexual abuse.
On an assurance by Saddar SHO Idrees Chidar that a case would be registered and police would trace the minor, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
