Six die in two accidents involving devotees` vehicles

HYDERABAD: Two different road accidents involving vehicles carrying devotees of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar claimed the lives of six persons along the Indus Highway on Sunday night and Monday.

A passenger coach originating from the Amri area and destined for Jamshoro hit a donkey cart that suddenly appeared before it.

The collision left four persons, two of them young sisters, dead and 18 others injured.

According to the Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) administration, the dead were identified as Bisma, 16, and Sana, 12, daughters of Bahadur Khan Khoso; four-yearold Salar, son of Abdul Rehman Babbar, and coach driver Anwar Mangrio, 45.

The injured included Zaheeran, Feroza, Saima, Islam Khatoon, Sajjad, Arsalan, Mithal, Aqeel, Faisal Chandio, Abdul Rehman, Afshan, Hubdar, Bahadur, Ghulam Sughra, Ali Hyder, Sajida, Adil, Aslam Brohi and Suleman Brohi.

The Jamshoro SSP said that the coach driver skidded his speeding vehicle onto the rough side of the road in order to avoid hitting the donkey cart but the coach overturned.

According to some other police officials, two of the injured persons were in a critical condition.

In the other accident, outside the main entrance of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, two persons died and two others were injured when a car rammed into a stationary truck on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Sattar, 60, son of Deen Mohammad, and Zeeshan, 25, son of Mohammad Akram.

The injured were identified as Rahib and Wakeel.

The victims were returning home after attending the urs celebrations at Qalandar`s shrine in Sehwan.
